Dan has scheduled another workshop at the Arm. The Saturday after this coming Saturday (Saturday, February 16, 2008), Louisville’s Alex Brooks will lead a book binding workshop from 11 AM to 5 PM. I am jazzed and am gonna be attending.
In this day-long class at The Arm you will learn to print & bind your own hand-made books and zines. We’ll cover basic bookbinding tools and techniques, as well as layout and design. We’ll pay particular attention to non-adhesive binding structures and explore how binding and letterpress can work together.
This workshop aims to provide you with techniques you can use to bind your own books at home with the most basic binding supplies.
No previous knowledge is necessary and we’ll build on any skills or experience you bring along.
This workshop will be led by Alex Brooks of Press 817 (Louisville, KY). Alex has recently curated a traveling show of work by young letterpress printers from across the globe.
